Frequently Asked Questions

After you complete your purchase we show the Booking Reference on the confirmation page as the Order Code. You may use this on your booking locator form.

We also email this to you immediately. Please read this email carefully as it contains the information required to successfully test with us.

We carefully manage the number of tests we sell, to match how many tests our laboratories can process. If we sell more than we can test, everyone suffers.

My date is “sold out.” Will there be more available?

From time to time a test for a sold out “Date of Arrival into the UK” may come back into stock as we process cancellations, but this is a few tests per day

Sometimes the laboratories update the number of tests we can send to them meaning we can add more stock for all sold out dates

When do you add future arrival dates?

We add future arrival dates from time to time when we are happy that we have enough PCR test kits scheduled in our manufacturing plans to cover the arrival dates.

The UK Government may change the travel rules on a specific date, so we may not release future tests until the new rules are clear.

Leaving TrustPilot reviews asking for more availability

We try to act responsibly in the allocation of affordable UK Arrivals tests. Kindly please do not leave reviews related to test availability or wanting us to release more tests for a given day.

Included in the price:

  • Two PCR tests to use on Day 2 and Day 8
  • All packaging and postage to return the samples to the lab using Royal Mail

If your travels plans change, please notify us as soon as possible. We are not always able to reassign your travel package to a new date due to the strict sales volume quotas we operate.

If you need to change to an earlier date –

  • if we have sold out for the new arrival date, we will only be able to proceed with a full refund – as long as you notify us before the kit has shipped. If you notify us after the kit has been shipped, we will issue a partial refund in line with our Terms of Service
  • if we have not sold out for the new arrival date, we will proceed with the changes

If you need to delay your shipment

  • if we have sold out for the new arrival date, we will only be able to proceed with a full refund – as long as you notify us before the kit has shipped. If you notify us after the kit has been shipped, we will issue a partial refund in line with our Terms of Service
  • if someone is able to sign for your parcel at your delivery address – we will proceed with the shipment. Please note that we cannot deliver your parcel without signature

This package cannot be used as part of the Green list arrivals testing scheme as it includes day 2 and day 8 tests, and Testing For All is unable to proceed with any claims for partial refunds of the package to cover the unused day 8 test.

Every test kit includes labels to return the sample using the Royal Mail Tracked Returns COVID-19 service. Samples may be returned using any of the 32,000 convenient Royal Mail Priority Postboxes, as shown on the Royal Mail services near you page. Just check “Show my nearest priority postboxes” when you search.

This service aims to deliver the sample within 48 hours of posting. Typically we see that 45% are delivered next working day, 40% the day after that, and 15% take between 3 and 5 days.

Typically we see that samples are processed within 48 hours of reaching the laboratory, with a service level agreed at 48 hours.

Results are made available immediately in the Testing For All results portal at www.testingforall.app/tests as they are released by the laboratory.

PCR is a widely used laboratory method that stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction. This test will selectively extract, amplify and identify the viral RNA sequence that corresponds to the virus.

This type of test is particularly sensitive and is the current reference method for detecting SARS-CoV-2 infections as the process finds the specific genetic code relating to the virus and amplifies it by copying it each cycle, where the number of copies double each cycle. The PCR protocol in use utilises 40 cycles in the process, so even a very low viral load in the sample can be detected.

The virus that is amplified in this way is not dangerous as it is inactivated during the preparation process so that only the genetic code is amplified, not the complete virus with its shell structure intact.

This test will tell you whether or not you are currently carrying SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, regardless of whether you are displaying symptoms. This test is sensitive enough to detect both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. If found positive, you should immediately follow the current best practise guidance provided by the NHS, which we will provided to you with your results.

Those testing positive must self-isolate for 10 days from onset of symptoms, or for asymptomatic individuals from 10 days of the date of your test.

This test uses the UK manufactured Nonacus reagents which show this test to be accurate with a RT-PCR limit of detection of 250 viral copies per mL for the N gene target.

The test targets genes in the nucleocapsid gene of SARS-CoV-2, and includes a human control to ensure that the RNA extraction process worked correctly.

Further information from the manufacturer for the RNA extraction process, and PCR protocol is available here.

We will provide you with specific guidance according to UK government Day 2 and Day 8 test legislation.

If you test positive you will need to self-isolate and be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

All Day 2 samples that test positive have the viral RNA sequenced to identify the viral variant present in the sample.

Testing For All is required to report all positive and negative results, and the virus variant following sequencing to Public Health England.

No. This package is specifically for Day 2 and Day 8 testing as it is routed to one of the leading laboratories in the UK that are able to perform genetic sequencing of Day 2 samples that test positive in order to identify any variants that pose a particular biosecurity threat.

If you wish to test for Fit to Fly, Test to Release or other time sensitive testing please use our COVID-19 Swab PCR Test as this laboratory processes more than 99% of samples that arrive before 1pm on the same day.

The turn around time at our Day 2 Day 8 laboratory is often up to or in excess of 36 hours so it is not suitable for Fit to Fly or travel testing.

You are required to take a throat and nose swab sample. The swab is used to carefully rub the sides of your throat, and inserted approximately 2.5cm into your nose. The swab is then inserted into a sample tube and sent to the laboratory for testing.

Yes. A certificate is included for each of your Day 2 and Day 8 tests.

The name on the certificate is the name provided during activation at your test verification video call, not during purchase.

The certificate can be downloaded from our portal once you have received your results.

No, this test checks for current infections only though will typically return a positive result for up to 25 days post infection. In order to find out whether you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the longer past and have developed antibodies, you can take our home antibody test.

Privacy is everything to Testing For All. To understand our stance please refer to our privacy notice.
